20 march – undereating, ketosis… what?
Today was a different day – I’m working second shift, so I had to decide what to do with my workout. And moved it to 11:30. Probably 1 slight mistake was that I had breakfast at 7, and then didn’t eat anything till workout. Then I had headache at the end of it and couldn’t even finish the cardio part at a good pace (read down)
Woke up at 6:15, but stayed in bed till 6:45. Sore leg muscles still cause me some pain, though I think it’s slightly less than yesterday.
07:15 – Breakfast: oats with milk + two tablespoons of honey + ground seeds (flax, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower)
12:30 – Post-workout: 1 protein bar (55 grams with approx. 22% protein)
14:00 – Lunch: approx. 350 grams of baked lentils, 2 boiled eggs
18:00 – Dinner: 3 boiled eggs, 1 tomato, 1/2 cucumber
20:30 – Snack: 150 grams of milk curds, 400 grams yoghurt
Workout started at 11:30:
4 series of leg lifting, 3 series ab crunches, 3 series back extensions – warm up
5 series seated rowing machine – back muscles
6 series negative angle bench press – chest
Finished with 2 x 2 minutes rowing machine as cardio, which I couldn’t finish – I think I might as well be either undereating or be in ketosis of some kind – as I reached the end of the workout I started to feel bad, wanted to throw out, had headache. That’s why I finished earlier than expected. A couple of minutes after the protein bar I felt great and my energy was back to normal. Is this some kind of placebo effect or real?

I am not an exercise physiologist, or a nutrionist. But I have some experience with “bonking.” Either you are not fit enough to complete these workouts (which I doubt), or you have not eaten enough, and had enough water. The water could have to do with the headache.
I know you are a vegitarian, and that’s great. It is more difficult to complete a serious training regimen and you have to be very timely and disciplened with your eating habits. It looks like your breakfast was too small to go all that time and then work out without eating.
Keep Going!
Thanks Matt. As 21st march showed – it should have been some kind of carb cravings. As soon as I take some my headache is gone – of course not for long. 21st was good day for eating, but bad for my workouts… this new routine is harder than expected… combined with the diet. But I’m determined to do it. And will do it.
Thanks for your great support!
